A BIG lesson learned

In partnership with

If I have learned anything from Google and SEO is that you cannot depend on traffic for long.

This is true for any social media platform, but for ages, Google SEO was different; it was the most consistent traffic source for almost 20 years… until now.

But that is not what we are here to talk about.

We are here to discuss what you should do with the traffic you get from any traffic source. (especially YouTube)

One thing I love about Beehiiv is that you can break down statistics like open rates and click-throughs by traffic source.

This has proven to be IMMENSELY helpful because it shows you where to double down.

YouTube leads are coming in at a feverish pace but the cool part is that they are opening up emails as well.

I’m seeing as high as 60% open rates within the last 30 days.

That is mind-boggling.

Back in the day, I would be happy with 20%.

But what is causing this open rate hike? Well, I have a couple of theories.

I have a pretty good welcoming sequence.

In the past, I would ALWAYS promote some courses or training I had at the moment, but today, I just welcome new subscribers and invite them to interact with me.

This has caused a ton of “replies,” which is awesome.

I get to learn more about the subscribers and provide more of what you want.

The 2nd theory is that email is still proving to be super valuable and converts decently well.

I’m getting about a 6% click-through rate and even higher on free stuff.

So how am I getting these subscribers?

I’d love to tell you I have this long drawn-out CTA at the beginning or end of my videos asking people to sub, but I don’t

In fact, it’s about as simple as sneaky as it can be. I’m putting the link in the description and the first pinned comment (when I remember).

I then also “mention” the newsletter in videos. I don’t always, so go subscribe right now, I just say something like,

“Something I always talk about in my newsletter is blah, blah, blah”

This is only perceived by the people that are actually paying attention. Those who don’t “hear” are not listening anyway, and I probably don’t want them on my list.

We are still in the fledgling stages of this new endeavor where I’m marrying YouTube with Newsletters, but so far, it’s proving to be valuable and profitable.

I’m just about to be monetized on the channel, and I’ve already generated $500 or so dollars in sponsorships and money from the Sparkloops referral program.

Winning!

Would you like some help getting started with either YouTube or newsletters? Let me know, I have a few open spots. Just reply and we will chat.
