I refuse

There has been a lot of shake up since the HCU and I want to help put your mind at ease.

Yes… It SEEMS like all is lost and that niche sites are dead

Yes… This is exactly what Google wants you to think… (wait, what?)

Allow me to help free you mind.

Whether you are actively working on SEO or just watch countless videos and part of 10,000 newsletters, be careful of shiny object.

Shiny object syndrome is where you run around like a chicken with its head cut off.

There are tons of SEO influencers that are screaming at the top of their lungs to try Facebook traffic, try Pinterest traffic, try YouTube traffic (OK, I'm guilty of the last one) …

But the pressure that you put yourself on needing to try each one of these traffic sources will lead you to have none of them done well.

Opposite of what people tell you, buying ads on Facebook will not “fix” your business.

Getting Tailwind and auto-posting AI images on Pinterest will not “fix” your traffic problems.

Creating content on YouTube will not magically make you a millionaire.

Each one of these sources needs time and care to get the to work right.

Do we need to diversify AWAY from SEO? No. But it would be wise to at least supplement.

Regardless of what is going on with Google and SEO at the moment, articles (yes, blogs) are still ranking. Leads are being gathered. Affiliate sales are still happening. Products are still being sold.

SEO has just changed a bit from going after traffic just for the sake of going after traffic (which is now very 2021 SEO) and going after keywords that have major commercial intent and supporting it with relevant articles.

SEO still works and I don’t think it is time to abandon it just yet.

The HCU has been the ultimate “reset” for our industry. But one thing I’ve always said, even if the cost to build a site was cut by 50%, it’s still a profitable business model because the margins are just so high.

Don’t give up on SEO, not just yet. This is becoming a “prove it period” and if you stick around, you will still reap the benefits of a site making semi-passive income.
